Canoeing is a water based activity involving the use of a boat called a Canoe or Kayak and a paddle. It is often classed under the umbrella of Adventure Sports with other activities such as Rockclimbing, Hillwalking Boardsailing and Diving.

As with all adventure activities there are certain risks involved which are minimised by following recommended safety guidelines and wearing appropriate gear.

There is no such thing as a typical canoeing session. You may participate in formal lessons, learn some tricks, race your mates or take a calm trip down the river admiring the scenery.
